Investigation on Chuna Treatment for Low Back Pain & Sciatica

Abstract
|
|
|
The present study retrospectively investigated clinical outcome of patients with low back pain & sciatica resulting from HNP(herniated nucleus pulposus) during Chuna treatment (flexion-distraction). The study population consisted of 21 patients (outpatient clinic) with low back pain & sciatica who were already diagnosed as HNP of lumbar spine with serial MRIs(magnetic resonance imaging) or CTs(computerized tomography). All patients were treated with flexion-distraction technique, one of Chuna technique. And the evaluation of clinical outcome was done twice during this study.
The results were summarized as follows:
Clinical results were 38.1%(8cases) excellent, 42.8%(9cases) good, 14.3%(3cases) fair, 4.8%(lcase) poor according to the pain and dysfunction score.
